Malawi has real technology. It's just hard to find.

MTHub exists to solve that problem by creating a single, trusted showcase of Malawian-built technology.

Malawi Technology Hub

Our Mission

To make Malawian technology discoverable, credible, and celebrated by providing a manually curated showcase of real, working projects.

Our Vision

A future where anyone looking for Malawian technology can find quality projects in minutes, not days—and trust that what they find actually works.

The Story Behind MTHub

Malawi is building real technology: AI tools that understand Chichewa, software solving local problems, hardware adapted for Malawian conditions, and innovative research. But these projects are scattered across university websites, personal GitHub accounts, NGO reports, and startup landing pages.

Worse, they're mixed with abandoned projects, non-functional demos, and exaggerated claims. This makes it difficult for:

  • Students looking for inspiration or collaboration
  • Developers seeking to build on existing work
  • Investors trying to find viable projects
  • NGOs looking for technology solutions
  • Researchers wanting to avoid duplicate work

MTHub was created to cut through the noise. We manually find, verify, and showcase only real, functional Malawian technology—creating a trusted directory that saves everyone time and builds credibility for the ecosystem.

Our Philosophy

Editorial Curation

We're a technology magazine, not social media. Nothing appears automatically—every project is personally reviewed by the curator.

Hands-On Verification

We test projects when possible. We check links. We verify claims. If we can't verify it, we don't publish it.

Quality Over Quantity

We'd rather have 50 verified projects than 500 unvetted ones. Every project added should be worth someone's time.

No Ownership Claims

We showcase, we don't own. All intellectual property remains with creators. We're a directory, not a platform.

How MTHub Works

1

Discovery & Submission

Projects come from public sources or direct submissions via our form. Nothing appears on the site yet.

2

Manual Review

The curator checks the project: Does it work? Is it Malawian? Is it technology? Is it accessible?

3

Verification & Testing

When possible, we test the project. We check links, try demos, and verify functionality.

4

Curation & Publication

Approved projects are manually added to the site with accurate descriptions and status labels.

5

Maintenance

We periodically check if projects are still live and update statuses or remove broken projects.

The Technical Model

What We Are

  • Static website (HTML, CSS, minimal JS)
  • Hosted on Netlify/GitHub Pages
  • Form submissions via Formspree
  • No database, no backend
  • Manually updated content

What We're Not

  • No user accounts or profiles
  • No content management system
  • No automated publishing
  • No user-generated content
  • No complex infrastructure

Why this simple approach? It's more reliable, faster for Malawi's bandwidth, more secure, and completely within one person's control. The focus stays on curation, not technical maintenance.

One Final Note

MTHub is a labor of love for Malawi's technology ecosystem. It's built and maintained by one person in their spare time. If you find it useful, the best way to support it is to submit quality projects and share it with others who might benefit.
